TT Pocket Tools Skull Gen1 Keychain Tool

TT Pocket Tools design and manufacture keychain tools, that are meant to be carried every day. Here I have the Skull Gen1.

The Skull Gen1 is made from 3/16", heat treated S30V Stainless Steel. Over a few weeks of testing, the tool still looks like it's just come out of the box. It hasn't been damaged at all. This tool is made too last. It is also stone washed, which gives it a nice and cool design.

Probably the first tool you've realised that's on this tool is the pry bar. The pry bar also doubles as a medium/large flat head screwdriver. Over the last few weeks, I've relied on the TT Skull to loosen/tighten screws, and do a few other jobs. An optional extra that is situated on the edge of the pry bar is the box cutter. There is a very small sharp edge there, that is meant to be used for opening boxes. At first, I thought that the edge was way too small to be of any use, but to my surprize, it actually opens boxes really well. This is probably the most used tool on the Skull that I've used. There is a notch in the pry bar which can be used as a wire stripper/gripper. I had trouble stripping wires, but if you ever want to cut some wire or rope, it does the job fairly well. Out of the 2 eyes that the Skull has, only one is actually a tool. The eye can be used as a 1/4" hex bit driver. On my tool, the cut out was a perfect size, and the hex bits fitted perfectly. The other eye is used to attach a lanyard, so it can be mounted onto anything you want.

For its extremely small size, 1-1/2" long, and 7/8" wide, it has a lot of tools, and most people will find the majority of these useful. Despite its small size, it is very comfortable to use as a tool. I will be carrying this tool on my keychain for years to come, unless I find another tool which has more tools in a smaller package.

PDair Nexus 4 Leather Flip Case (Book Style)

PDair design and manufacture high quality cases for most of the latest smartphones. These cases are normally made of leather, but they do have a few other cases made out of aluminium, and silicone.

Here I have the Black Leather Book case for the Nexus 4. It arrived in a rather plain box which included the case and a belt/pocket clip attachment. As soon as you pull the case out of its packaging, you instantly realise the quality of this case. The leather looks and feels of the highest quality, with no marks or scuffs anywhere. The leather is held in place with white stitching, which hasn't broken over a few weeks of vigorous testing. The contrast between the white stitching and the dark leather just looks beautiful.

I chose the book type case over the other types, because all the necessary ports and buttons are easily accessed, so you don't have to open the case to charge the phone, change the volume, and do a few other things.

The Book Case flips open to the left, with the phone on the right hand side. The material on the inside is quite a bit firmer, with the logo PDair in the middle. The piece of leather that holds the left and right hand side together, does start to have stretch marks after constantly opening and closing the case for a few weeks. The phone is held in place from the sides and bottom only. The clips are made from hardened leather, and are a perfect snug fit for the nexus 4. I thought that my phone would fall out of the case due to not supporting it from all directions, but the phone has stayed in place since having the case.

On the rear of the case, there's a camera cutout which is surrounded by the beautiful white stitching. Also it has 3 holes where the phone speaker sits, so it doesn't affect the volume that drastically. Also there's the place to mount the pocket/belt clip on the rear. You screw the adaptor in to the back of the case, and then the clip itself clicks in place onto this adaptor.

The case is held closed by a magnetic clip, which is fairly strong. On the similar Nilkin Nexus 4 case, there's no clip so when the phone falls, the case opens, and it lands face first. This isn't an issue with this case because of the magnetic clip. The clip also clicks into place, so the case is held firmly shut.

One downside I've realised with this case, is that it does affect the amount of signal the phone receives. I have a few times, removed the phone out of the case, so I can get a bit of signal.

Overall, if you want a high quality case, which does a phenomenal job of protecting your phone, while still looking amazing, this is the case for you. This case might be quite expensive but in the end, you're paying for quality.

Strathspey 10x42 Waterproof Binoculars Review

Strathspey maufacture their binoculars based on 2 things. These are quality and value. After field-testing their 10x42 waterproof binoculars, I can easily say that they are amazing value for money. They retail for £79.99, which is a bargain when you think about it. Personally, these binoculars, rival other binoculars, which cost at least twice as much.

It arrived in a standard cardboard box, which included the binoculars itself, a bag/holster to carry it, a lens cloth, a neck starp, and some instructions. All the accessories are well designed, and they look like they should last for years of use.




The binoculars weigh 0.6kg, which feels quite heavy when used for long periods, but for normal use, they feel fantastic in hand. They're very comfortable, and feel very well balanced. You can easily reach all the neccessary parts like the focusing wheel, which is a big bonus for people with smaller hands. Under the barrels, there are some thumb rests, which make using the binoculars even more comfortable. The binoculars are too big to carry in a pocket or handbag, but they'll be fine in a rucksack, or hanging around your neck with the included neck strap. The neck strap is well designed, and has also been padded, so there's no strain on your neck when in use.






It's very clear in the instructions, on how to set up the binoculars for your eyes. With the other binoculars I've used, the eyecup has been held right back close to my eyes, but with these binoculars, I have to hold them a bit more forward to get a clear picture, and get a comfortable hold. Because the binoculars are being held a bit more forward, I have to hold the two barrels a bit closer together, than what I do with my other binoculars. But after getting used to this new position, they feel like a dream to use, and I always get a nice circle with no dark shadows. The field of view is reasonably good (6.1 degrees),  which is 107m at 1000m. The rubber eye cups can either be positioned up or down. When down, it's meant to be used with glasses, and when up, it should be used without glasses. I don't wear glasses, but I prefer using the binoculars with the eye cups down.

When I first used the binocualrs, the centre focusing wheel was a bit stiff, but after using the binoculars for a couple of days, the focusing wheel soon loosened up, and now it's very easy to use. To change from focusing on a near object to focusing on a further one, it does require about 1 and a half turns. This means it's very fast and easy to focus on something far staright after focusing on something near.



These binoculars have a magnification of 10x. This magnification allows you to see objects which are quite far away, while still having a good brightness and detail. The reason for the good brightness and detail, is that the large (42mm) lens collects lot of light. The image quality is fantastic, with no shadows, and nearly no chromatic aberration at all. The colours of objects through the lens look very well, and they are very similar to the colours in real life.

These binoculars have watertight seals, and are nitrogen filled, so they are waterproof and the nitrogen stops condensation forming on the lens. The optics are level IV and the prisms are BAK-4 so these binoculars are very high quality and are very resonably priced. The rubber body isn't sticky so it doesn't attract and collect dust particles so the binoculars will always, look nice and clean.

Overall, these binoculars, are very cheap for what they are. People spend so much more for binoculars with the same quality. For the price of £80, you are getting a real bargain. Strathspey say that their binoculars are good quality and good value, and after writing this review I can conclude, that this binocular, fits into both of these categories.

True Utility MiniDriver Review

The MiniDriver from True Utility is a screwdriver that lives on your keyring. It's made out of Chromium plated steel. It contains 4 screwdriver head on 2 bits. There's a small and large Phillips head, and a small and large flat head screwdriver. The first bit is at the front of the driver, but to access the second bit, you must remove the quick release clip. The second bit is hidden in the shaft of the driver. On the main body there are some anti slip grooves which help you get more grip. If you want more grip, there are 2 notches at the top of the shaft, and you can use a 2 pence or something similar to get more torque. It measures 55mm in length without the clip, and 75mm with the clip. It measures 10mm in diameter.
