Here I have the Skull Gen1.

The Skull Gen1 is made from 3/16", heat treated S30V Stainless Steel. Over a few weeks of testing, the tool still looks like it's just come out of the box. It hasn't been damaged at all. This tool is made too last. It is also stone washed, which gives it a nice and cool design.

Probably the first tool you've realised that's on this tool is the pry bar. The pry bar also doubles as a medium/large flat head screwdriver. Over the last few weeks, I've relied on the TT Skull to loosen/tighten screws, and do a few other jobs. An optional extra that is situated on the edge of the pry bar is the box cutter. There is a very small sharp edge there, that is meant to be used for opening boxes. At first, I thought that the edge was way too small to be of any use, but to my surprize, it actually opens boxes really well. This is probably the most used tool on the Skull that I've used. There is a notch in the pry bar which can be used as a wire stripper/gripper. I had trouble stripping wires, but if you ever want to cut some wire or rope, it does the job fairly well. Out of the 2 eyes that the Skull has, only one is actually a tool. The eye can be used as a 1/4" hex bit driver. On my tool, the cut out was a perfect size, and the hex bits fitted perfectly. The other eye is used to attach a lanyard, so it can be mounted onto anything you want.

For its extremely small size, 1-1/2" long, and 7/8" wide, it has a lot of tools, and most people will find the majority of these useful. Despite its small size, it is very comfortable to use as a tool. I will be carrying this tool on my keychain for years to come, unless I find another tool which has more tools in a smaller package.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-26383901043512998722013-06-24T09:56:00.001+01:002013-07-02T15:08:57.481+01:00PDair Nexus 4 Leather Flip Case (Book Style)
PDair design and manufacture high quality cases for most of the latest smartphones. These cases are normally made of leather, but they do have a few other cases made out of aluminium, and silicone.

Here I have the Black Leather Book case for the Nexus 4. It arrived in a rather plain box which included the case and a belt/pocket clip attachment. As soon as you pull the case out of its packaging, you instantly realise the quality of this case. The leather looks and feels of the highest quality, with no marks or scuffs anywhere. The leather is held in place with white stitching, which hasn't broken over a few weeks of vigorous testing. The contrast between the white stitching and the dark leather just looks beautiful.

I chose the book type case over the other types, because all the necessary ports and buttons are easily accessed, so you don't have to open the case to charge the phone, change the volume, and do a few other things.

The Book Case flips open to the left, with the phone on the right hand side. The material on the inside is quite a bit firmer, with the logo PDair in the middle. The piece of leather that holds the left and right hand side together, does start to have stretch marks after constantly opening and closing the case for a few weeks. The phone is held in place from the sides and bottom only. The clips are made from hardened leather, and are a perfect snug fit for the nexus 4. I thought that my phone would fall out of the case due to not supporting it from all directions, but the phone has stayed in place since having the case.

On the rear of the case, there's a camera cutout which is surrounded by the beautiful white stitching. Also it has 3 holes where the phone speaker sits, so it doesn't affect the volume that drastically. Also there's the place to mount the pocket/belt clip on the rear. You screw the adaptor in to the back of the case, and then the clip itself clicks in place onto this adaptor.

The case is held closed by a magnetic clip, which is fairly strong. On the similar Nilkin Nexus 4 case, there's no clip so when the phone falls, the case opens, and it lands face first. This isn't an issue with this case because of the magnetic clip. The clip also clicks into place, so the case is held firmly shut.

One downside I've realised with this case, is that it does affect the amount of signal the phone receives. I have a few times, removed the phone out of the case, so I can get a bit of signal.

Overall, if you want a high quality case, which does a phenomenal job of protecting your phone, while still looking amazing, this is the case for you. This case might be quite expensive but in the end, you're paying for quality.

These are quality and value. After field-testing their 10x42 waterproof binoculars, I can easily say that they are amazing value for money. They retail for £79.99, which is a bargain when you think about it. Personally, these binoculars, rival other binoculars, which cost at least twice as much.

It arrived in a standard cardboard box, which included the binoculars itself, a bag/holster to carry it, a lens cloth, a neck starp, and some instructions. All the accessories are well designed, and they look like they should last for years of use.

The binoculars weigh 0.6kg, which feels quite heavy when used for long periods, but for normal use, they feel fantastic in hand. They're very comfortable, and feel very well balanced. You can easily reach all the neccessary parts like the focusing wheel, which is a big bonus for people with smaller hands. Under the barrels, there are some thumb rests, which make using the binoculars even more comfortable. The binoculars are too big to carry in a pocket or handbag, but they'll be fine in a rucksack, or hanging around your neck with the included neck strap. The neck strap is well designed, and has also been padded, so there's no strain on your neck when in use.

It's very clear in the instructions, on how to set up the binoculars for your eyes. With the other binoculars I've used, the eyecup has been held right back close to my eyes, but with these binoculars, I have to hold them a bit more forward to get a clear picture, and get a comfortable hold. Because the binoculars are being held a bit more forward, I have to hold the two barrels a bit closer together, than what I do with my other binoculars. But after getting used to this new position, they feel like a dream to use, and I always get a nice circle with no dark shadows. The field of view is reasonably good (6.1 degrees), which is 107m at 1000m. The rubber eye cups can either be positioned up or down. When down, it's meant to be used with glasses, and when up, it should be used without glasses. I don't wear glasses, but I prefer using the binoculars with the eye cups down.

When I first used the binocualrs, the centre focusing wheel was a bit stiff, but after using the binoculars for a couple of days, the focusing wheel soon loosened up, and now it's very easy to use. To change from focusing on a near object to focusing on a further one, it does require about 1 and a half turns. This means it's very fast and easy to focus on something far staright after focusing on something near.

These binoculars have a magnification of 10x. This magnification allows you to see objects which are quite far away, while still having a good brightness and detail. The reason for the good brightness and detail, is that the large (42mm) lens collects lot of light. The image quality is fantastic, with no shadows, and nearly no chromatic aberration at all. The colours of objects through the lens look very well, and they are very similar to the colours in real life.

These binoculars have watertight seals, and are nitrogen filled, so they are waterproof and the nitrogen stops condensation forming on the lens. The optics are level IV and the prisms are BAK-4 so these binoculars are very high quality and are very resonably priced. The rubber body isn't sticky so it doesn't attract and collect dust particles so the binoculars will always, look nice and clean.

Overall, these binoculars, are very cheap for what they are. People spend so much more for binoculars with the same quality. For the price of £80, you are getting a real bargain. Strathspey say that their binoculars are good quality and good value, and after writing this review I can conclude, that this binocular, fits into both of these categories.

Please Like, Comment, and Follow for more reviews soon!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-14259982121969422732013-05-24T14:58:00.000+01:002013-06-06T16:20:32.507+01:00True Utility MiniDriver Review

The MiniDriver from True Utility is a screwdriver that lives on your keyring. It's made out of Chromium plated steel. It contains 4 screwdriver head on 2 bits. There's a small and large Phillips head, and a small and large flat head screwdriver. The first bit is at the front of the driver, but to access the second bit, you must remove the quick release clip. The second bit is hidden in the shaft of the driver. On the main body there are some anti slip grooves which help you get more grip. If you want more grip, there are 2 notches at the top of the shaft, and you can use a 2 pence or something similar to get more torque. It measures 55mm in length without the clip, and 75mm with the clip. It measures 10mm in diameter.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-79447930455451977082013-05-24T14:41:00.000+01:002013-06-06T16:20:32.502+01:00True Utility SporKnife ReviewSporKnife - The name says exactly what this product is. It's a spoon, a fork, and a knife all in one!

The SporKnife is made entirely out of stainless steel. When you open it up, it locks into place with a linear lock. For easy and convenient carry, there's a clip on the rear so you can attach it to your bag or belt loop. You get a generously sized spoon,
which has a fork tip at the front and a slightly serrated edge on one side. The finish on this product is very good, and it looks, and feels very high quality. You can easily open it up one handed. It can't open up too far, because there's a little peg there which stops the spoon form swivelling right round. When the SporKinfe is closed, the serrated edge is supported by a plastic edge, which also stops the spoon from swivelling around in the other direction.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-37367100939994350582013-05-24T14:19:00.000+01:002013-06-06T16:20:32.498+01:00True Utility CashStash ReviewThe CashStash from True Utility is a Keyring Emergency Cash Holder. It arrived in a large, waterproof box (can be bought separately), which can be used to hold a number of different things.

It is made out of aircraft grade aluminium, and is a lot smaller than your house key. It measures 45mm high by 15 mm in diameter. The capsule is fully waterproof because it has an O-ring near the head. If you carry this on your keyring, there's a high chance that no one will notice it because it's so small. The finish on it is amazing, and the threads join together perfectly. The Dark Energy from SOG is a CR123 powered flashlight. I'm proud to say that this flashlight follows SOG's usual build quality. The build quality is perfect.

The flashlight arrived in a lovely gift box which included, the flashlight, a battery, and a pocket clip. The flashlight measures 3.8"/9.65cm in length, and it weights 3oz/85.05g. The body is made fully out of black hard anodized aluminium. When held in hand, you instantly feel the very aggressive knurling on the body. It provides a good grip, and makes it comfortable to hold. Near the tailcap there's a hexagonal ring that acts as an anti-roll function. Personally I see this mostly as a design function, as the ring is too small, to act as a proper anti-roll ring. The head is quite a bit larger than the rest of the body, and it holds a quite large orange-peel reflector. The deep reflector gives a decent throw, while the orange-peel spreads a bit of light, so it lights up a large area. So with this reflector you get the best of both worlds. A included pocket clip screws on to the body in front of the hexagonal ring. The tailcap is very tight to the body, so this light wont randomly fall off of a piece of clothing. The knurling on the head twirls in one direction, which gives a nice look to the torch, and it fells very comfortable. The tailcap goes back further than the switch, therefore the light can easily tailstand. At the head, there's a tactical bezel which gives a cool beam shape, while it still can be used as a tactical weapon if needed. Only the tailcap screws off, and it reveals a non-anodized thread and the battery tube. The Cr123 battery fits snuggly in the tube, and it doesn't rattle about in the flashlight. The flashlight is water resistant to 1 meter for 30 minutes

The light does have momentary on, and you use the momentary function to change from one mode to another. You press the button fully once to enter the high mode, where the light gives out 214 lumens out of the Cree XPG R5 LED. Then you press the switch momentary to change into low mode (40%), and then press the switch once again to enter the tactical strobe mode. The battery lasts for 80 minutes on high, and 180 minutes on low.

Overall, this is a very nice, tactical everyday carry flashlight. The tactical strobe, and the scalloped bezel, make this ideal for someone who needs a small tactical flashlight.

Please Like, Comment, and Follow for more reviews soon!!

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-28162645801173965092013-05-24T13:22:00.000+01:002013-06-06T16:20:32.481+01:00SOG Sliptron Knife ReviewThe Sliptron from SOG is stated as an Everyday Carry Knife. It is a folding knife, but it doesn't have a lock. Instead it has a slip joint locking mechanism. SOG say this means that the knife only closes when you want it to. It all depends on the amount of pressure you put on the blade. In testing, I found that the lock worked exceptionally well. It never closed unexpectedly. I was a bit unsure about this locking mechanism, but it locks in place with a satisfying click, and closes only when needed.

When closed the knife measures 3.9"/9.91cm, and when opened it measures 6.9"/17.53cm. It weighs 2.9oz/82.21g, and has a blade length of 3"/7.62cm. The knife has a Satin finish. There's also a black version available.

The knife feels very comfortable in hand, and fits perfectly. There's a groove near the joint of the handle and blade where your index finger sits comfortably. This make using the knife a joy, and my hand never hurts after using the knife for a long period of time. There's a lanyard hole at the end of the handles, and there's an unique design engraved into the handle. The handle is made out of stainless steel, and I did find that the handles does scratch when left in the pocket with other items. The blade is made out of 8CR13MOV Steel, which has a hardness of RC. 56-58. The blade is shaped as a clip point which has a straight cut leading down the top edge to the tip of the blade. The blade is easy to sharpen, and it holds its sharpness very well. I find it nearly impossible to open the blade one handed, but it opens very easily when opened two handed.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-2714074507304776332013-05-24T11:50:00.000+01:002013-06-06T16:20:32.477+01:00SOG Powerlock V-Cutter S62 Multi Tool Review"As one of the original multi-tool manufacturers, we have learned quite a bit over the years. Like how to make the toughest tools with patented gear driven Compound Leverage™ mechanisms. You have let us know, that quick access is a must. Just flip our tools out with one hand and see for yourself how well we listened. Versatility in the field is a necessity and heavy duty construction provides access. There is also a myriad of features that you might not readily see, like our saws cut faster and our files shave better. And while you are at it check out the new V-Cutter. Does all this make sense? You bet, which is why leading military forces choose SOG!"

This quote was taken from the SOG website. After using the Powerlock V-Cutter/ S62 for a few weeks, I'm very proud to say that this multi tool does exactly what SOG says it would do.

The specifications are very impressive for a multi tool, because it includes a few tools, that you wouldn't find on most multi tools e.g the 1/4 inch socket.

1/2 serrated 3" blade

3" double-tooth wood saw

3 sided 3" File

V-Cutter

1/4" Drive

Wire Crimper

Bolt grip Channel in the plier head

Bottle Opener/Medium sized Flat head screwdriver

Can opener/Small sized flat head screwdriver

Hard Wire Cutters

Large flat head screwdriver

Phillips screwdriver

Awl

Lanyard

When closed, it measures 4.6"/11.68cm in length, and when open it measure 7"/17.78cm in length. It weighs 9.6oz/272.16g, which isn't that heavy, but it does give the tool a satisfying feel in hand. The handle is made out of 460 polished stainless steel, which has a hardness of RC. 51-53.

My multi tool came with the nylon sheath, but there's a leather sheath also available. The nylon sheath is made to a very high standard, and can be clipped to your belt or clipped to a pocket. The sheath closes with the hook and loop measured, which is held in place with Velcro.

As soon as I pulled it out of it's package, I instantly realised that this tool is made to a very high standard. It is a very sturdy and solid tool when used, and doesn't feel like it's going to give up on me anytime soon. When I first opened the tool, I realised that the compound leverage is an amazing design. The tool opened very easily with no hassle, and after a bit of practice, can be opened with one hand with a flick of the wrist. The pliers can be used as a pair of regular pliers, or as needlenose pliers if space is an issue. The Compound Leverage technology means that you generate twice the squeezing power than other pliers, when your applying the same force on the handles. The wire cutters comfortably cut through wire coat hangers. So far, the pliers show no sign of wear and tear. The pliers close perfectly, with no gap inbetween the two sides. Also, on the frame there's an engraved ruler, and the name of the tool. These engraving are deep and clear, and they look really good.

When the components are fully opened, they're held in place with a very simple, but very effective lock. The lock has never failed so far, and it doesn't look like it ever will. To close the tools, you press one side of the lock and the close the tools.

The knife blade is 3" long and is half serrated. I personally love this as you get the best of both worlds in 1 blade. The serrated part makes short work of cutting rope and opening boxes, while you can use the smooth part for nearly everything else.

The double-toothed saw on the Powerlock, is definitely the best saw on any multi tool. It makes short work of anything you throw at it. It never jammed when I tested it on a couple of branches.

The file has 3 sides, which all to exceptionally well at their jobs. They can cut, smooth or finish off a piece of metal.

All of the other smaller tools performed as good as their big brothers. None of them failed when I tested them all individually.

One thing I love about this tool, is that you can disassemble the tool, and swap any of the tools with other ones, but just make sure that the new tools are the same thickness as the old ones. This sets this tool apart from all the other tools, from other manufacturers. All that is required to disassemble this tool is a Allen key.

If you take care of this product, it should easily last you a lifetime. That's all it needs is a bit of oiling and keeping it clean. One thing that I didn't like on this tool, is the metal covers that cover the tools, when closed. Sometimes, when i open these covers they accidentally come off, and are a pain to put back on. You either love these covers or hate them If you don't like them they can easily be removed. Overall this is an amazing product, that has only fault in my opinion (but this is me being fussy). This tool might be a bit more expensive than other tools, but it's definitely worth it. you will not be disappointed!

Please Like, Comment, and follow fore more reviews soon!!

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-30700739074240952882013-05-24T10:21:00.000+01:002013-06-06T16:20:32.473+01:00Coast EAL15 Lantern Review

It's not only flashlights, and head torches that Coast manufacture, but they also manufacture an array of lanterns. Here, I have the review of the EAL15 lantern which has 6 different modes, to suit everybody's needs.

As soon as you pick the lantern up, you can feel the reassuring weight, which tells you this is a high quality lantern that's not going to break any time soon. The body is mainly made out of plastic, and the plastic's been covered with strips of aluminium which make the lantern look and feel more expensive. The handle is made out of plastic and has a built-in swivelling hook, so you can hang the lantern off of a small branch, or some rope. Around the LED's there's a clear plastic casing, and surrounding this casing are metal bars, which should protect the lantern if it falls. When standing, the lantern measures 7.5in/19cm tall, and the lantern has a weight of 16oz/453.5g.

The lantern is powered off of 4 C batteries (not included), which are placed at the bottom of the lantern. To put the batteries in, you must screw the base off and then put the batteries in. When you screw the base back on, it locks in place with a very satisfying click. The lantern has 5 different modes, which are all controlled off of one switch, which is located at the top of the lantern. These 5 modes are Full Power-Medium Power-Energy Saving-Red-Red (flashing). To turn the light off you must cycle through the modes, and the off mode is after the flashing red mode. On full power the light gives out 60 lumens, and the lantern has a maximum runtime of 50 hours.

This flashlight is a real bargain if you think about it. You get amazing, reassuring build quality, and a good output of light for under £20. You can buy the lantern from amazon at

Please Like, comment if you have any questions, and follow for more reviews.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-55300009648027917692013-05-18T14:41:00.000+01:002013-06-06T16:20:32.491+01:00Coast HL4 Dual Head Torch ReviewThe HL4 from Coast is an etremely good value for money. The HP in HP7 stands for High Performance, and this flashlights matches up to its name by giving out 251 lumens on high, which shines out to 196m. It lasts a very surprising 5 hours and 45 minutes off of 4 ordinary AAA batteries. It also has a low mode that gives out 58 lumens. In low mode, the battery lasts for 10h, while shining out to 66m.

The HP7's body is made out of anodized aluminium, and it also features a rubber tailcap switch, a lanyard hole, and a spot to flood focusing head. Due to the spot to flood head, this light is a bit larger than other flashlights on the market. It measures about 150mm in length, the body diameter is about 32mm, and the head diameter is about 38mm. Even though of its larger size, the flashlight feels amazing in hand. The light is also impact resistant, and water resistant to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

The Coast HP7 also has what Coast call a "Pure Beam FOcusing Optic", which has a fingertip speed focus adjustment. This means that the light gives a even disribution of light in flood mode, and in spot mode, it gives an extremely bright hotspot, with a dimmer surrounding. The fingertip speed focus adjustment, means that the light can go from spot to flood without hassle. The head also can lock in place when you find your desired position. I love the flood mode, where there are no shadows at all, and the light covers a very large diameter.

The flashlight has momentary on, and you can cycle through the two modes very easily, and then push the switcg a little harder to select the mode you want. The tailswitch is protected by the tailcap, which means that this light can easily tailstand. A holster is included in the set, as well as some batteries, so the flashlightn is ready to use out of the box. All Coast products are also backed with a 5 year guarantee.

This flashlight is amazing value for money, and has a lot of the features of some more expensive lights. If your after an extremely good value for money flashlight which can change from spot to flood with no problem, this is the light for you.
You can buy the flashlight from Amazon at
coast hp7

Please Like, Comment if you have any questions, and follow for more reviews soon!!

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-69753231941170986032013-04-13T11:34:00.000+01:002013-06-06T16:20:32.465+01:00Olight M22 Warrior Flashlight ReviewOlight M22 Warrior Review

This new flashlight from Olight features the newer LED the XM-L2. When it was first released, a lot of people had different reactions towards its looks. Some liked it, and some hated it. Personally, it looks like a standard 18650 thrower, and it looks similar to the nearest competitors.

It arrived in a lovely package, that included the M22, a diffuser, a holster, a CR123 magazine, a good quality lanyard, and a small package that includes 3 O-rings and a spare glow in the dark tail switch. The M22 gives out 950 lumens on high which has a beam range of 305m. It comfortably lights stuff up to about 200-250m, but I can see trees (just about) that are 300m away.

In hand, the M22 feels extremely well built, and the knurling on the body ain't too aggressive. The words on the body are well machined on with no slight mistakes. The head features a lot of cooling fins that help to lower the chance of overheating. The bezel is well made, and has the words "Hot Surface" and "Cree XM-L2" laser etched to each side.

One thing that might put some people off from buying this flashlight is that it can't tail stand. It also features a tactical ring, that allows users to hold the flashlight with the cigar hold. This ring is removable but it will reveal an O-ring. It also has a pocket clip. The design of the clip helps to hold the tactical ring in place. The metal contact in the tailcap maintains contact because it has a spring beneath the gold contact. The rear threads are well lubed and look of extremely high quality. Inside the battery tube, there's a shiny sticker that shows the user which way the battery goes in.
The head doesn't have anodised threads because the UI requires the head to be loosened and tightened. There is also a spring gold contact near the head, so the battery will not rattle about, and it should always maintain contact.

The reflector is smooth and deep, which gives a throwy beam, which also lights up a good area. The walls of the flashlight are quite thick, and should be capable of a good beating. The bezel is easily removed which reveals a glass lens with a red O-ring.
The included diffuser fits on snuggly to the head, and works flawlessly. The diffuser also has a loop that can be mounted to the lanyard.
The holster is probably one of the best ones I've seen. It's made of a high quality material, so it keeps it's shape. On each side, there's a loop to hold spare 18650 batteries. The loops hold the batteries in place really well. There is a hole at the bottom of the holster so the flashlight can be used when its packed away. The holster can be mounted to a belt or a carabiner. I hope that other brands will soon follow the design of this Olight holster.
The user interface is very simple on the M22. You loosen the head and then tighten it to move from one mode to another. Low-Medium-High. There is also a hidden Strobe mode. To access the strobe, you'll have to press the switch momentary 3 times. Personally the strobe flashes at a good rate to temporarily blind someone. It ain't too fast, like some of the other flashlight I've used. When the flashlight gets quite hot on high, it will move down to a lower mode, to protect the LED.

If you're looking for a powerful tactical flashlight, the M22 might be the flashlight for you. It rivals other flashlights that cost quite a bit more.

Please Like, Comment with any questions, and follow for more reviews soon!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-75941667630387410722013-03-25T11:09:00.000+00:002013-06-06T16:20:32.450+01:00Led Lenser F1 Flashlight ReviewLed Lenser Flashlight Review

Thank you Led Lenser for sending out a F1 flashlight to review. The flashlight arrived well packaged in a lovely gift box.

The box included the F1, a Duracell battery, a pocket clip, a spare bezel, a wrist lanyard, a cleaning kit, and some documents. Inside the lid of the box, there are some details about the F1. It shows all the specifications, including saying it has 400 lumens, 100m beam range, and waterproof to 2.5m. The build quality is excellent with every piece joining each other with no problem. The Cree LED sits perfectly centered, and gives out a perfect beam of light. The hotspot is very bright, and can comfortably reach passed 80m. Built to the tailcap is a hexagon shape that stops the flashligh from rolling off of flat surfaces. This works very good, while still making the flashlight lovely to look at. The steel bezel at the front is interchangeable with the tactical bezel which is included in the box. The tactical bezel is capable of breaking glass in emergencies. Also near the head are some grooves that help with lowering the chance of overheating (the flashlight does get hot when used for long periods on high).

The included pocket clip can be mounted at the rear or the front, with 360 degrees of possible places to be mounted. There is a notch in the tailcap that holds the lanyard in place. The flashlight can talstand, butit's a little harder when the lanyard is mounted. One thing that sets this flashlight apart from other Led Lensers is that the beam is not focusable. This is not a problem, because the lens creates of very tight hotspot, while still glowing up a good area. The flashlight only measures 88 x 27.5mm, and it gives out 400 lumens. Its powered off of one CR123 battery, and can lastt up to 2 hours. The F1 includes SLT (Smart Light Technology), so the flashlight has 3 modes: High, Low, and Strobe. It gives out 400 lumens on high, and the low gives out 60 lumens. If you shine the strobe into someones eyes, you'll most probably temporarily blind them (This is why it's a tactical flashlight).

If you're looking for a very high powered tactical flashlight that fits in your pockets, this is the flashlight for you. The only downside I could find is that the batteries don't last last very long, and that the flashlight doen't allow rechargeable CR123's. Overall, this flashlight is very good value for money.

More information on the F1 can be found at http://www.ledco.co.uk/content/productView.aspx?prodId=92

You can buy the F1 from Amazon at http://rcm-uk.amazon.co.uk/e/cm?t=trissrevi-21&o=2&p=8&l=as1&asins=B00A39OVF8&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr

Please Like, Comment with any questions, and Follow for more reviews soon!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-4479407876818567632013-03-03T18:37:00.000+00:002013-06-06T16:20:32.443+01:00MuckyNutz Bender Fender ReviewMuckyNutz Bender Fender Review

The Bender Fender from MuckyNutz is probably the most simple front mudguard around. Despite it's simple form factor, it does an impressively good job at stopping mud/water being flung up into your face. The Bender Fenders are made by the small Sheffield based company MuckyNutz. It arrived yesterday as a sheet of plastic and a roll of velcro. The included instruction manual stated clearly that you need to cut the velcro into 5 equal sizes (about 16cm), and then attach it your forks.

It was very easy to fit onto my forks, and it has stayed firm ever since. It doesn't show a sign of coming loose after a thrashing ride today. Because it sits so close to the tyre, it doesn't allow mud to be flung forward into my face. Because of the shape, it stops mud from also being flung to the side (total opposite of the RRP Neoguard).
For all you weight weenies out there, you will not be dissapointed with the Bender Fender, which ways only 16g. This is mostly because the plastic used is very thin and flexible. Its easily the lightest mudguard around, and it works flawlessly.

Verdict
The Bender Fender is the lightest mudguard around, and it stops EVERYTHING from being flung into your eyes. It's also a real bargain when you compare it's price to the other contenders out there. If you buy the Bender Fender you will not be dissapointed

http://www.muckynutz.com/ also sell Butt Fenders and Gut Fenders which protect other parts of your body from the mud.
If your in the UK, you can buy they're products directly from them at http://www.muckynutz.com/ or you can buy it from amazon at http://rcm-uk.amazon.co.uk/e/cm?t=trissrevi-21&o=2&p=8&l=as1&asins=B00BYR68RC&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifrAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-2669793871997217962013-03-02T21:19:00.000+00:002013-06-06T16:20:32.426+01:00Leatherman Rebar Multitool ReviewLeatherman Rebar Review

First of all, thank you to Leatherman for sending me this product to review.

The product arrived packed in a clam shell. Included in the package were the tool itself, a leather sheath and a manual/product catalog. After opening the clam shell, the first thing I realised was the difference in size and weight compared to the Super Tool 300. The Rebar has basically the same tools as the Super Tool 300, but packed in a smaller body.

Measurements

When closed the Rebar measures 10.16cm in length, weighs in at 189.94g, and has a blade length of 7.36cm.

Tools

The most obvious tool on the Rebar is the pliers which has a set of removable 154cm hard/standard wire cutters. These are attached to the plier head by small torx screws. These wire cutters can cut through a bike spoke, but i doubt it for anything much larger in diameter. The tip on the plier head is pefectly crafted and the two ends meet together perfectly. Because the needlenose pliers are so point, the pliers can be used in small spaces, while you can also use them to grab stuff about half inch in diameter. For me, the pliers on the Rebar are the perfect size, and they are very strong. There is no sign of weakness when you put pressure on them.

There is also a wide rangle of screwdrivers on the Rebar. It has one phillips head, and 2 flat head screwdrivers. The larger flast head measures 7mm in diameter and the smaller one 3mm. I find these two sizes to be the most popular in day to day life. The design of the phillips head means it can be used with larger and smaller screws.

The next tool I'm going to talk about is the awl. Many people love to have an awl on they're tools because it's so versatile. The main use of an awl is probably using it as a leather punch. It also has a needle eye near the tip, and the machined edge is at an angle so it can also be used as a scraper.

By now, people consider a saw as a standart tool on a multi tool. The saw on the Rebar has a functional length of 56mm. Its been desied, so the saw is thickest where the teeth are, so it decreases the chance of the saw getting stuck.. The teeth are crafted to the highest standard, and they're all pefectly shaped.

For years, Leatherman files have been much better than those of other brands. The file on the Rebar has a different design on both sides of the blade. On one side the file is designed for wood, and the other side is a diamond file designed for harder materials. At the bottom edge there is also file which can be used as a hacksaw on small tasks.

The can/bottle opener on the Rebar opens cans with ease an it can also open a variey of bottles. At the base of the can opener on the Rebar, there is a V-shaped notch which is designed as a wire stripper.

The most hidden tool on the Rebar is the wire crimpers. These are located inbetween the handles, opposite to the pliers.

There are two knife blades on the Rebar which measure 7.36cm in length. These blades are made out of 420HC steel. 420HC steel is easy to sharp, and it retains a good edge. There is one plain blade, and one sheepsfoot serrated blade. These two blades are easy to access because there is a cut out in the REbar's body. The serated blade is designed to cut through rope, and open packages, while the plain blade is designed to everyday tasks (such as opening letters).

The last tool on the Rebar is the lanyard, which is not exactly a tool but more of an accessory. Some people like lanyards, and some people don't like them. Personally I'm not fussed with lanyard, but the lanyard on the Rebar seems to be of a good size to hold a variety of rope sizes.

There is also another accessory on the rebar which you may not have seen. This is the ruler. It's been machined into the body and can measure up to 20cm. The lock on the Rebar is a very simple one, but it does its job very effectively. It's a rocker-type kind of lock.

The Body/Accessories

At the two joints between the body and the pliers, the body has benn narrowed down so its more comfortable to hold when open. Another way that Leatherman have made the Rebar more comfortable to hold is by turning the edge of the body inwards, so it doesn't cut into your hands when applying pressure.

The leather sheath which came include in the package is held together by 4 rivets. It's very well made but I have one quite major criticism about it. The snap buttons that open/close the sheath are quite stiff and hard to open. Over time, I hope that the snap buttons will eventually become smoother because this is quite a big problem at the moment.

Conclusion

Personally I think that the Rebar from Leatherman is a great value for money tool, which is perfectly crafted with no flaws in the steel work. At the beginning the joints were quite stiff, but after opening and closing the tool for a few minutes, it works perfectly. I think that you can't go wrong with buying the Rebar, especially with it's low price point, for the amount of tools you're having.

You can buy the Rebar from amazon at http://rcm-uk.amazon.co.uk/e/cm?t=trissrevi-21&o=2&p=8&l=as1&asins=B007ERHK3M&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifrAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-89272665235131783792013-02-24T09:48:00.000+00:002013-06-06T16:20:32.421+01:00Dankung "The Cougar" Slingshot/Catapult by Jorg SpraveDankung "The Cougar" Review

I came across Jorg Sprave by his youtube channel. On there i found out that he had released a slingshot that was designed by him - "The Cougar"

I went to the Dankung website and ordered one of these to test/review. My first impressions are that it is really well built, but the bands looked the total opposite. They looked weak and flimsy.

After firing a couple of shots throught the Slingshot, I encountered my first problem - either the bands are to thin or the slots in the frame are too wide. Personally I find that the slots are a bit wide for Dankung bands. An easy way to bypass this problem, is to use flatbands such as Theraband.

I also think that the frame is a bit oversized. I don't have small hands but I did find the frame to be a bit on the large side to be comfortable.

With flatbands or wider Dankung tubes, the slingshot shoots really well.

Conclusion

The Slingshot is really well built and shoots really well with flatbands or larger tubes, but i suggest you buy this Slingshot if you have larger hands, and that you don't mind using flatbands with it. Also I find that the slingshot is quite heavy, so if you don't mind carrying the extra weight you'll be happy with your purchase.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-78255658633479214942013-02-20T18:32:00.000+00:002013-06-06T16:20:32.413+01:00Fenix LD22 S2 ReviewFenix LD22 S2 Review

The LD22 is the newer version of the extreamly popular LD20. The new LD22 S2 is the same as the original LD22, but features a Cree XP-G S2 LED.

Its powered by 2 AA batteries (I prefer Eneloops). One of the main differences between this flashlight and the LD20 is that the LD22 S2 features a switch near the head to change modes. It also features an intelligent memory function that remembers the last mode used.

On maximum brightness it gives out 200 OTF lumens with a runtime of 2h 26m. It also has a high mode which gives out 95 OTF lumens, with a runtime of 6h. Then comes the medium brightness mode which gives out 46 OTF lumens with a runtime of 15h. The lowest mode is 3 OTF lumens withn an increadible runtime of 110h. Personally, I can see that these figures are quite realistic to the actual brightness the flashlight gives out. It also features a 200 lumen strobe, and a SOS. It has a digitally regulated output so it maintains a constant brightness.

Its body is made out of finely crafted Type-III Hard Anodized Aluminium, with an anti-abrasive finish. It has a toughened ultra-clear glass lens with an anti-reflective coating. The body clip (included) can be mounted in two ways - in the front (pointing backwards), and at the rear (pointing forwards). It has an anti-roll, slip-resistant body.

Specifications

Length - 156mm

Diameter - 21.5mm

Weight - 60g (excluding batteries and body clip)

Conclusion

I think that the LD22 S2 from Fenix is possibly the best 2xAA flashlight on the market today. They have a range of flashlights from small penlights (like the Preon 2) to flashlights that require they're own holsters.

As stated above the 4Sevens Preon 2 is a penlight. These lights are designed like pens - a thin body that's quite long. The Preon 2 gets it's power off of 2xAAA batteries. The Preon 2 is the first flashlight to run on a Cree XP-G LED that runs on 2xAAA batteries (Sanyo Eneloops are the best).

It delivers a magnificently bright 160 lumens on max setting, with a runtime of 0.8 hours. It also gives out 22 lumens on medium with a runtime of 6 hours, and 23 hours on the lowest setting which gives out 2.2 lumens. It also features a strobe, SOS, Beacon(Hi), and Beacon (Lo).

Measurements

Length: 5.05 inches

Diameter: 0.55 inches

Weight: 0.8 ounces.

The body is made out of Hard-anodized aluminum that comes in 2 colours:- Black and Blue. There is also a Titanium model available. The flashlight os waterproof to IPX-8 standards (2m).

Conclusion

This torch was designed to rival the Streamlight Stylus Pro which was the king of all penlights before this stepped on the block. Although this flashlight does cost a bit more (about £40), it is worth the extra money.

Where to Buy?

4Sevens Preon 2 Gen 2 - 20% more lumens, but same runtime. http://www.flashaholics.co.uk/4sevens/preon-2.html

Sanyo Eneloops = http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sanyo-Eneloop-AAA-Pack-Batteries/dp/B000IDWDKO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361294091&sr=8-1Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-84681721650076890852013-02-18T16:48:00.000+00:002013-06-06T16:20:32.396+01:00Fenix E05 R2 Flashlight ReviewFenix E05 R2 Flashlight Review

Fenix is most probably the best value for money flashlight brand around. They offer a wide range of flashlights from small keychain flashlights, to blindning searchlights.

The E05 R2 is a keychain flashlight that outshines the 2AA Mini-Maglite by far. It's 64.5mm in length and 14.4mm in diameter. It's a single-mode flashlight that gives out 27 lumens. This is a high amount of light for a flashlight of this size. When running on 27 lumens it runs for 2 hours and 50 minutes from a single AAA battery. This flashlight is digitally regulated so it maintains a constant brightness for most of its runtime. The flashlight gives out a nearly perfect beam, with nearly no artifacts. It gives out a decent spill for its size, and it can light up stuff at around 30m comfortably. The Cree XP-E LED in the E05 gives out a very neutral coloured beam.

The torch operates On/Off by turning the head. It is a smooth turn and easy to make one-handed. It has a lanyard hole at the rear and it can easily tailstand to serve as a candle. This flashlight is available in 3 colours:- black, blue, and purple. This flashlight can easily handle the knocks of every-day life, with its aluminium body. Its also water resistant.

Personally I think that the E05 R2 Flashlight is possibly one of the best AAA flashlights to have on your keychain. Surely it isn't as bright as the lithium CR123 torches, but they're in a different class. I can't think of anything negative to say about this flashlight.

You can buy it from Amazon at http://rcm-uk.amazon.co.uk/e/cm?t=trissrevi-21&o=2&p=8&l=as1&asins=B004D2A02O&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifrAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-2285509818763660962013-02-17T20:23:00.000+00:002013-06-06T16:20:32.389+01:00Joby Gorillapod SLR ReviewJoby Gorillapod SLR Review

When I saw the Joby Gorillapod after becoming a keen photographer, I thought that i had to have one. I also liked the fact that its so compact and can be used nearly everywhere, the total opposite of a classic tripod. The original Gorillapod stated that it was capable of holding my superzoom compact Nikon S9100, but the tripod mount on the camera was at the edge so i guessed it would probably topple over. When i saw that there was a Gorillapod for bigger Cameras, the Gorillapod SLR, i suddenly had a quick look online and bought one. I knew the increased size and weight load could easily handle the weight of my S9100.

The Gorillapod SLR states that it can hold a camera weighing up to 1.75 pounds. If this Gorillapod is too small for your camera, there is also the Gorillapod SLR Zoom which can handle a weight of up to 6.6 pounds.

Design and Features

All of the Gorillapod line-up are basically the same just the whole design gets enlarged a bit each time. The Gorillapod SLR has the same features as its younger brother, the Original Gorillapod, just everything's increased in size. With the legs straightened and folded together the Gorillapod SLR measures a height of just under 10 inches. This is very compact and it can easily fit into a camera bag. It is not only very compact, it's also very lightweight weighing in at only 5.8 ounces.

The Gorillapod is basically made up of 9 ball and socket joints on each leg, and a further 2 ball and socket joints near the head. This means the legs can be bent into a variety of different shapes and can hold a camera in basically anywhere. The tips of the legs are mostly covered in rubber, so you can get grip on a variety of surfaces. All of the ball and socket joints have a line of rubber to grip whatever they're holding onto.

At the tripod head there is a removable attachment that gets screwed onto the tripod mount of the camera. Because its so small you can leave this attachment always onto your camera. When you need to use the tripod you can just clip it in, set the legs up, and snap away. When this attachment is mounted on the tripod its locked int o place, until you press a button and remove it. For extra protection there is a rotating lock which can prevent the button from moving.

Performance

At the moment, the Gorillapod SLR works perfectly at what its designed to do. The legs have a high range of movement so you'll always end up with a steady position. It can also easily hold the weight of my camera (7.5oz).

I can only think of one downside, and i will only find out about it in the future. This downside is that, the legs will end up getting weaker over time and will not be able to hold a camera steady.

Conclusion

This is possibly the best value for money tripod around. It gives you a wide reange of versatility, while keeping the price at a minimum. I will only find out if the downside is true or not in the future, so I can't be certain for now. I suggest that all you camera lovers out there, that you go out and buy one of the gorillapod's that suit your needs.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5795355436884361175.post-14459854148595841442013-02-17T19:31:00.000+00:002013-06-06T16:20:32.382+01:00Leatherman Skeletool ReviewLeatherman Skeletool Review: by Tristan Jones

The Leatherman Skeletool is classed as a pocket-size multi-tool on the Leatherman website (www.leatherman.com). As with all of the products from Leatherman, the Skeletool's build quality is second to none. All the moving parts move smoothly and the body is finely crafted. The body is made out of stainless steel.

Specifications

Length: 4in/10cmClosed Weight: 5oz/142g

Tools (as stated on Leatherman's website)

Needlenose pliers Regular pliers Wire cutters Hard-wire cutters 420HC Combo Knife Carabiner/Bottle opener Large Bit Driver

Pliers

The Main tool on the Skeletool is the pliers. The rest of the Multi-tool is built around the pliers. The tool opens up with the familiar butterfly-opening style which reveals the pliers. The tool locks into place with a very satisfying click. Because of the way the Skeletool was designed there is only one possible way to hold the tool when open. The pliers on the Skeletool are very similar to the pliers on the Juice line of multi-tools from Leatherman. The pliers are blunt-nosed, and have a set of wire cutters at the bottom. There is also a set of hard wire cutters below the standard ones. I find these pliers very strong and reliable.

Blade

The blade is 2.6in/6.60cm long and is made out of 420HC steel. 420HC steel is easy to sharpen and retains a good edge. The Skeletool CX (Skeletool's big brother has a 154CM blade which is harder and preferred by many. I personally prefer 420HC because it's softer and easier to sharpen and holds a decent edge. The blade has a thumb cut out, which means the blade can be deployed one-handed. I personally find the size of the cut out, and its placement perfect for one hand opening. When the blade is open it locks securely into place with the liner lock. I find this kind of lock easy to function, and it does a good job of keeping the blade locked. There are also little cut-outs in the blade which helps to keep the weight down to a minimum. I think that the shape of the blade is really good. When the blade is open, there is a notch in the frame for the index finger to sit in. I find this position a very comfortable way of holding the tool with the blade deployed.

Large Bit Driver/Bits

The bit driver is situated at the end of the right handle (same side as blade), while the spare bit is situated inside the left handle. The driver has a nice locking mechanism to hold the bit in, and its easy to operate. The bit driver is designed to be used with one of the handles opened right out. Personally, I find it very comfortable to use the bit driver in this position. It can also be used with one of the handles opened to a 90 degree angle. This position gives you a lot more leaverage if you need it, but i find this position a little less comfortable and user friendly. The spare bit is held in a notch in the frame of the left handle. It is held in entirely by friction. I find it to be fairly secure but it is possible for the bit to fall out when in vigorous testing. If you want extra bits for the bit driver, Leatherman sell a bit kit for use with any of the large bit drivers. If you want to use hex bits with the Skeletool, you can buy the Leatherman bit extender. A downside of using the bit extender in this tool is the fact it doesn't lock into place.

Carabiner/Bottle Opener

The carabiner can be clipped onto almost anything, from belt loops to D-rings. When using the carabiner on some D-rings i found out that the carabiner is a bit big to be versatile. The carabiner also doubles as a bottle opener. It function very well as a bottle opener, and the only downside i can see with it as a bottle opener is that, when applying pressure to open the bottle the top edge of the blade digs into your hand.

Conclusion

If you're looking for a multi-tool, and you're thinking that you are not going to use half the stuff on the multi-tools like the Leatherman Wave, then the Skeletool is possibly the perfect tool for you. It only has a few tools but these tools are the most important in day to day life. The Skeletool looks fantastic while still having the versatility of other multi-tools with much more tools. Personally, I rate the Leatherman Skeletool a 9 out of 10. It lost a mark because of the few design flaws (e.g. knife digging into hand while opening bottle, and that the spare bit isn't fully secured into the frame). I am very happy with my purchase of the Skeletool, and i'm sure you'll be too.

You can buy it from Amazon at http://rcm-uk.amazon.co.uk/e/cm?t=trissrevi-21&o=2&p=8&l=as1&asins=B000XU9NXW&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifrAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16558292683669453222noreply@blogger.com0
